It's tough to not have conspiracy theories when you see what a person is capable of, and the ethics that they hold..... coming back to take over a protocol, forcing development down a road that the users didn't ask for... Collecting venture capital funds for personal projects and making updates to the protocol, which makes no sense unless framed in the context of need some new features in order to be able to have on-ramps and off-ramps to a new protocol..... spinning up a competing meta-protocol while also maintaining counter-party... seeing absolutely no conflict of interest at all.... And not really focused on counter-party and growing it. Like the promises that were made when him and his team took control of counterparty 2+ years ago.... So, yeah, you'll have to forgive some of the users here if we don't think the sun rises and sets in Adam's unbuttoned shirt and that every word that he speaks is gospel..... Actions speak louder than words and his actions have decimated the counterparty community, whether you want to accept that or not..... If he was going the right direction, and was gathering users, you would think he would very easily be able to get some people into his telegram chat, get people building new stuff on the platform, but that's not really what's happening.... Users like you, who are longtime users and have been around for a long time, continue to build on Counterparty, which is awesome. But the influx of new users and new projects and new features has not materialized like it was promised....

And it doesn't mean that the end goal is not obvious to many, many people..... Step one, build atomic swaps into Counterparty, even though nobody asks for them.... Step two, build a competing meta protocol with features which promise the world.... Step three, stop maintaining counterparty and adding anything of real value... Step 4. Wait for users to slowly migrate away from the dying platform to something else...... Fortunately, real soon users are going to have options and contour is going to be a less and less attractive option.

Are we going to be able to migrate assets to xchain ? -
Yeah, if you want to, you can.... I'm forking the Counterparty Ledger asset ownership, so anyone who owns an asset on Counterparty or Dogeparty will own that same asset automatically when the platform launches on the blockchain.... It gives asset owners the option to start doing stuff with the token that they already own on Counterparty while not causing additional confusion by forking asset balances and creating questions as to what is the real rare Pepe token. Is it the one on XChain or is it the one on Counterparty? I don't want to create confusion. I just want to continue building and having fun and pushing the limits of what's possible.... And yeah, there will absolutely be ways to migrate your token over to xChain Platform if that's what you want to do, or you can keep your tokens on counterparty, or you can have your token live between both chains. It's entirely up to the user..... Anyway, I don't want to take over and talk too much about X-Chain here because it's a counterparty channel. They'll just have to wait and see. Probably another few weeks.

The Counterparty Classic and Counterparty 2.0 fork happened over two years ago, and ever since that time, the community has remained divided...And honestly, there's not much point in talking to the other side, because it's clear Adam is in control, Once I handed over the keys to the counterparty kingdom to him, he consolidated power and forced changes into the protocol and basically does what he wants. So there's not much point in trying to find common ground.... It's best that he keeps doing what he wants and I just go off and build something new and We both take our own paths

You are correct, sir…. It was very telling when community members asked him to simply try to create a token and submit it to a project, and he refused. He is happy to just make the pudding and then refuse to eat it, but expects everyone else to eat it and tell them how delicious it is.
And yeah, his return to counterparty and his big release was pretty spectacular failure. 15 hot fixes to keep the system running all within the span of a week or so…. It was abundantly clear that they may have written test suites that said counterparty was good, but they didn’t actually do testing like a real person🤷🏻♂️ -

Rare Pepe’s are tokenization in action. They are just the first round of tokenization where you can see that artwork is associated with a token, but a token can be used for anything a deed for a house shares in a company. Anything you want to associate with the token you can…. That’s tokenization.
As far as your question about XCP…. That is the native currency on counterparty and yes, it is used to create assets….. or at least it was used to create assets in counterparty….. You simply get some XP put it in your wallet and then you can register assets, which are words that you own…. You can then issue token supply and use it for whatever you want. -

that being said i DO remember contention for moderation early on against Jdog and ZeroG in the Github chats... and yes that pissed me off too... but I can very confidently say that has changed alot - if you haven't scoped around and noticed - alot of things have changed and alot of voices and taken very seriously now

I have respect for you trying to keep the lines of communication open and listen to both sides But at the end of the day the majority of the people on this side have no interest in engaging with Adam because it's been demonstrated time and time again that he's gonna do what he wants... And really, it's kind of a moot point now that he's built the Contour competing meta protocol. He's showed his hands. That's what he's focused on, that's what he's working on, so anything he's saying now to Counterparty is just lip service to try to keep people here from going full abandoned ship on him.... But the path forward is clear.... The super hottie kind of laid out the case pretty clearly the other day.

This perfectly illustrates how we got to where we're at in the current situation..... Again, I have mad respect for you for trying to stay the course and be the voice of reason and connect the community with the supposed developer who's here for the community, but we see right through all that bullshit with him, so there's not really much point in LARPing anymore... It's generally a waste of our time to go on and try to communicate with him.... People have gone on and asked him to create tokens and actually use the platform that he's building. He refuses..... Kane went on and talked about how he was frustrated and how the elephants were fighting and the grass was trampled and he was essentially ignored..... other people have gone on and voiced their concerns and at the end of the day Adam just does the Kamala Harris word salad thing and continues doing whatever the fuck he wants without really listening and making changes to his direction.... Like I said the other day, we're past the point of reconciling or anything like that... He's already written a competing meta protocol with this platform and sees no ethics or conflict of interest problems..... That should tell you everything you need to know about the direction of this project under his leadership going forward.

In my opinion, we all would have been better off if he just would have been transparent from the very beginning and said, hey, I wrote Counterparty, but I'm going to write a competing meta protocol. I hope you guys are okay with that. I think everybody here would have respected his straightforwardness and integrity, and we wouldn't have really seen it as a competitor, as he would have been doing things above board and being honest..... Instead, he made promises about what he would and wouldn't change in order to get back in control of the codebase here at Counterparty, Once he had control, he immediately went back on his word and changed a whole bunch of things that he personally promised me he would not change, as it would damage the community., and then went on to write a competing meta-protocol... we would all be in a much better position if he just had integrity and could have been above board from the very beginning. Rather than playin this lame cloak and dagger, get control of the codebase and force futures and think that he can steer the community where he wants.... He wasn't around for the 10 years through the difficult times of counter-party and so he has no idea or connection with the community and with how resilient and determined and focused we can be.

And if we recall what made him actually rage quit this channel, it was simply me asking questions about him being transparent about if he was raising venture capital funds to fund counterparty's development..... His response was to try to kick and ban me from the room.... When it became clear that I was still the owner of the room, and he couldn't really kick me, and I just simply joined back up and asked him to answer the question, that's when he rage quit and started his own channel.... He was never kicked, or asked to leave, or removed from this channel, ever.

You're only getting a part of the story. The quick version is, yes, he built the protocol..... 12 years ago.... then quickly abandoned the protocol and maintaining it so that he could start up a for-profit company named Symbiont.... He kept taking more and more venture capital funds into that venture to the tune of like $26 or $28 million until finally the company flopped and they sold it for like a million dollars...... At that point, that is when Adam came back and said he wanted to take control of Counterparty again... when he returned, he made it very clear that he was only interested in profit and would only really get re-involved if he could earn some money off of it.... When it became clear that he couldn't easily get a bag of XCP, he went ahead and quietly raised venture capital funds for counterparty development without letting the community know about that..... He pushed changes into the protocol that nobody wanted, and in fact, many people were against, and that is what fractured the community two plus years ago.... Since that time he made changes to the protocol to break wallets and through community initiatives like the Counterparty Improvement Proposal and the Garbage Can..... He basically shit all over the people that were here for the past 10 years funding and running this thing as a grassroots community project.... And now he has written a competing meta-protocol because it's easier to get venture capitalist funds into a new shiny toy than it is to do the hard work of staying around counterparty and adding the features that he promised to counterparty.... Everything he's doing in Contour, his competing meta protocol, could be done here in Counterparty. He could be enriching all of us with what he's working on. Instead, he chooses to take the alternate route..... So anyway, that's generally my take on the story.... I've been here since the beginning of Counterparty and I was the core developer for a number of years. I still run Free Wallet and TokenScan, which is what about 90-95% of the community still uses as their go-to wallet and explorer.... And somehow I was villainized by Adam and called a toxic developer for wanting transparency and questioning his motives behind forcing futures and privately collecting venture capital funds for development and asking questions about conflicts of interest.

Write some software, take it into a private company, collect venture capital funds for it, have someone else pay you for writing the software, eventually exit, and then rinse and repeat..... The difference here is that Counterparty is not some little piece of software. It is a tight-knit community, and he never understood that.... or saw the value in that.

used to have the ability to open a dispenser on a different address using a single transaction you could manage your assets from one wallet open up dispensers fund those dispensers from a wallet now it takes three transactions.... Also, atomic swaps were added when nobody wanted them, and there is no usage for them.... Also, fare mints and the minting process was added, telling the community that, oh, the stamps community really needs these, and yet little to no usage.... .. The main point of contention was that there were features that were removed which were being actively used by the community. You used to be able to pay a dispenser with any Bitcoin wallet, just a normal BTC payment, and you would get a token sent back to you. Easy peasy, it worked perfectly, and it was a great way to onboard new users to the counterparty platform.... And the bonus is, you didn't even need to use a Counterparty wallet. You didn't even need to be aware of what Counterparty was. You could just send Bitcoin from any wallet to a dispenser and get a token back. And then once you had this token, you were incentivized to learn more about Counterparty. What is this token? What can I do with this token? And it made people learn about Counterparty and onboarded a lot of users.... But when Adam came back, he was like, Nah, I don't like this. I'm just going to rip this out. And he made it so that in order to use dispensers, you now have to use a counterparty compatible wallet. So we lost an incredible onboarding mechanism to bring users into the counterparty ecosystem and help them learn.... Now the only way to use dispensers is knowing that you want to use a dispenser, knowing what the hell they are, and going off and having to download a counter-party wallet. Which is why adoption has dropped off a cliff as well.

It is absolutely not a lie. I am building xChain platform, which is based on Counterparty, and it was very easy to bolt on a smart contract system, and it is something that the community has wanted for many, many years.... The only reason not to build it within Counterparty is because it's more difficult to figure out how to get venture capital funds into this new shiny tool..... much easier to write something in a brand new system and shill the new bag to investors as something new and exciting.... If he really was here for the Counterparty community and really wanted to build what the community wants He could have very easily said hey I need 30 or 40 grand to build this virtual machine into Counterparty and we would have raised it for him almost overnight.... But instead, he prefers to have larger bags and more access to venture capital funds. And Counterparty is inconvenient in that regard. So it's easier for him to just build something else somewhere else and then say he's doing it for the Counterparty community. But in reality, he's doing it so he can just continue to bilk venture capital funds out of the next sucker.

Yes, his primary mistake was coming back to a community driven project, understanding nothing about the community, refusing to listen to the community, and simply forcing the changes on the community that he felt was best...... And look where that has got us. Counterparty is effectively divided for two plus years, has no real path forward where any actual innovation will be added, And his focus is elsewhere on his competing meta protocol...... Don't be fooled by him adding some simple little automated market making contract to counterparty now..... He could have added a virtual machine that allows users to write smart contracts and do anything where an automated market making contract is just one of an infinite number of things that can be accomplished with counter party and... instead he focuses on his new project and then wants us to get excited about simple features which he adds..... It's a pure LARP

In a project that is decentralized and trustless and permissionless, secrecy is no good.... maybe I could see secrecy in a short term being beneficial if there was something he was working on that he didn't want someone else to copy and then he releases it and we all say yay and we're excited and we understand but that's not what's happened here. His secrecy was self-motivated to keep venture capital funds flowing into his pockets and his secrecy was so that he could write a competing meta protocol while maintaining this one.... At least that's my two cents.

- Better Ordinals inscription metadata support
Non-Protocol Changes:
- More inscription file types. Audio formats like audio/ogg;codecs=opus now work, plus a few other previously-rejected types.
- Ordinals-style metadata in taproot inscriptions.
- No more single point of failure on Blockstream. Multi-Electrs failover — nodes can use multiple backends and fail over automatically. Defaults now include both Blockstream and Mempool [block explorer].
- A long list of bugfixes and hardening in the parser, indexer, and API.

It used to be that counterparty updates would be rolled out and you would just update to the latest code and be up instantly. But it seems that now that we have allowed rollbacks in the past few releases and normalized it, now you can no longer rely on a counterparty update being just an update and not resulting in downtime.... Updating to Counterparty 11.1 is resulting in like three to four hours worth of downtime due to this rollback nonsense.... We aren't rolling back the ledger, so I'm not exactly sure why we are blocking normal API usage and ledger updates going forward.... we should not be doing rollbacks on every new release as It results in unexpected downtime Like I am experiencing right now

We’re attempting something pretty bold with this excitement for counterparty assets! A decentralized p2p pepe/counterparty art storage. As of now, anyone in the counterparty ecosystems creating for projects like Fakes, commons, Danks etc can utilize our platform to store their images. Keeping CounterTools.io running on a Supabase Pro Small instance is proving extremely challenging. Downside, frequent resource exhaustion and major lags in data syncing. Upside, I am learning a lot about how to optimise data queries, data syncs, cron jobs and database health monitoring.

What’s the process of getting a collection certified on xcp?

If you're meaning a green bannered collection, there's a few steps to take to get it moving.
-Create a website
-Begin a community (Create a tg group and have some folks join)
-Have a few cards made, beginning the collection
-Pay the fee to Jdog (Was $1k for me, get with him to ensure his price hasn't changed)
-You will have to maintain a json file pointing to the images for your project that will have the green banners.
It's a process but I managed to do it, it's very much worth it. -

It's what Jdog charges to do the work of setting up the code so that it runs automatically when you update your json file, so that you get a green banner. If you don't want a green banner, there's no cost.

Exactly. You can make a collection for free. Green banner is just an upgrade to show that you’ve taken the steps (put skin in the game).
