does anyone know about CIP25? Its a metadata standard everyone uses even though it technically never left draft stage? lol

since no one in that channel replied to you.... cuz... they either don't know or don't really have a good answer.... anyway.... CIP25 is something I wrote and proposed a few years ago after seeing people creating all sorts of random json files with random fields... decided to standardize the fields so that explorers and whatnot could have a standardized way to look at the data associated with a token.... its in "Draft" status cuz it is just a proposal... not "officially accepted".... just a format that I defined and put forth and updated tokenscan and freewallet to use.... hopefully that answers your question 🙂

Ultimately i think counterparty needs a content field for assets, so we dont just put everything in the description field but thats a different discussion :)

I created one of the first JSON formats via my coindaddy.io services... then after many years of ppl using that wonky format I created... I created CIP25 to standardize the fields and allow for way more data, etc.... its just my proposal.... since its not actually a part of the protocol, just defining a standard used on the platform

yeah CIP doesn't pick it up cuz it is just some random string... gotta have a pre-defined format like ORD:txhash or IPFS:tx_hash, etc... so the explorer knows what the hell to do with that has, etc.

anyway... I have the info on CIP... but I'm not really doing much on counterparty anymore... so, if you wanna make a chance to CIP25, go for it.. propose it.

Yeah... their whole "cram all the data into the description field" is a shitshow..... resulted in cramming full images into a database... bloating it incredibly.. and its onbly gonna keep getting worse..... with xchain I tried to keep it all organized... tokens with descriptions... text descriptions up to 250 characters... and FILE format where people can just upload files and associate them / link them with tokens.... much cleaner than the hack-job of trying to cramp image data in a database...... FILE data just lives in the transaction where it was encoded and if it is ever needed, then the FILE is decoded..... not crammed in a database making every query slower like CP 😛

looks like the Cardano one pre-dates my proposal by a year... but, def a total coincidence.... my proposal was basically just an extension of what we were already using for 8 years.... 😛

There was an instance at one point where I had swapped the places of two different words and when that had happened I had logged into a empty wallet with a different address. I had the same experience. I thought I had entered everything correctly myself but I had switched two words to put them in each other's place. -
No, while logged into the ghost addy I went and viewed the passphrase to verify. It was word for word the perfect as it should have been, but all the addresses were different and the balances were zeros.
That was the point I about shit muhself.
